MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Civic Media) – The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 33-year-old man died Wednesday night following a medical emergency at the Milwaukee County Jail.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a correctional officer was alerted around 7:41 p.m. that the man was unconscious.

Jail staff declared a medical emergency and attempted lifesaving efforts, including giving two doses of Narcan.

Milwaukee Fire Department personnel got there and kept trying, but the man was pronounced dead at 8:19 p.m.

Authorities said the man had been in custody since November on a felony methamphetamine possession charge.

The man’s death comes just over two months after another in-custody death at the jail. The investigation is ongoing.
